I see that Pittsburgh city Councilwoman Darlene Harris had a run-in with cycling advocate Stu Strickland, who was wearing a camera so that he can record actions of motorists who don’t share the road with cyclists like him.
I would like to suggest to Mr. Strickland that maybe he should start using his camera to record cyclists who drive through solid red traffic signals and past stop signs at speeds of 15 to 20 mph without stopping.
I left Rivers Casino about 2 p.m. on May 8 from the self-park lot only to observe, while sitting at my solid red signal, not only a cyclist drive through that red signal at 20 mph but the next one also at main entrance to casino.
If you are familiar with this area, there are four crosswalks at this intersection also.
If I would have done that, I surely would have received a couple of traffic citations. Do traffic laws not apply to cyclists? I’m starting to believe it.
