Rob Rogers' Gaza cartoon screams of propaganda and half-truths

I was appalled to see Thursday’s cartoon in my hometown newspaper. It screamed of propaganda, telling half-truths that don’t even attempt to tell two sides of a story.

It is appalling to suggest that Israel is attacking Gaza unprovoked; it is well documented that Hamas shoots rockets indiscriminately at an alarming rate. It is no less appalling to suggest that Israel is targeting civilians; it is well documented that Hamas hides behind children while it shoots at Israel.

That civilians are dying in this horrible battle is catastrophic, but to place blame solely on Israel is simply irresponsible. It ignores the nuances of the political situation and screams of bias and lazy reporting.
