A broad sweep of Pittsburghers rallied to support Israel

Once again, the Post-Gazette is not able to be even-handed in its coverage of the Israel/Gaza story. On July 28 a caption under two photos said, “A rally Sunday afternoon in Squirrel Hill by members of the Pittsburgh Jewish community...” The caption goes on to describe a “counter-protest.”

First, the Israel Solidarity Rally was not just made up of members of the Pittsburgh Jewish community. We were so pleased that many members of the Christian community joined us, not only in person but also as co-sponsors.

Second, the caption neglects to point out that at most there were 30 protesters outside while inside the Jewish Community Center during our rally we estimate approximately 2,500 in attendance. I am proud that so many came out in support of Israel’s effort to wipe out Hamas tunnels and weaponry used to target innocent Israelis: Jews, Christians, Muslims, Druze and Bedouins.

I hope that in the future the Post-Gazette will tell the news and not shape it in the way it wants.
