Top-rated cities must have the transit to match

For Pittsburgh residents who are nondrivers (in my case due to a visual disability), Pittsburgh has not been the most livable city. Due to the failures of public transportation and the deplorable nature of Yellow Cab service, Pittsburgh is significantly less livable than New York or Washington, D.C., my prior hometowns.

The raves about Pittsburgh have perplexed me because public and taxi transportation are so problematic. However, Lyft and Uber have changed everything. For nondrivers, these services have made Pittsburgh into the first-class locale people claim it to be.

For all residents, I urge the politicians to ensure that ride-sharing services continue, as they do in many other cities.
