About women

It has come to my attention that Highmark and UPMC have arranged a “deal” denoting which UPMC facilities Highmark subscribers will have access to after Dec. 31. Cancer patients will have access to their doctors. Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic and Children’s Hospital are included, but Magee-Womens Hospital is not.

What is going on? The governor’s “Patients First” program includes women, does it not? What about all the female Highmark subscribers who will no longer have access to Magee-Womens Hospital? Does not the name, Magee-Womens, say something to you? It’s for women! Our elected officials are not allowing UPMC to discriminate against children, mental health patients or cancer patients, but to discriminate against women, that’s OK?

I hope some female attorney out there or the ACLU goes after all the parties causing this injustice.
