As I read the paper on Sunday I saw Sandy McPeak’s letter “Blue Angels’ Flyover Filled Me With Pride” (June 8). I was actually moved to a tear in my eye after reading her words.
I too was startled at the roar of the F/A-18 mighty twin engines of seven jets roaring toward Downtown; however, a low-level overcast prevented me from seeing them. I did feel them go by! I was so angry that I could not actually see them. Then about 15 or 20 minutes later I again heard the mighty roar of our Navy’s finest. I burst outside as quickly as I could to see the most beautiful sight I ever saw in the sky over Fox Chapel, where I work. Seven Navy Blue Angels in tight formation were making their way back to Latrobe. I was filled with pride and overcome with emotion at the sight.
When I read Ms. McPeak’s letter I was glad to know that I was not the only one who felt this way. She must be from the same era as I. Patriotic, All-American and damn proud of it! Hats off to her and all of those like us.
