The next governor must address property taxes

Now that the governors race is down to Tom Wolf and Tom Corbett, I noticed that they have made education their top priority. I have no objection to spending money on education, books, computers and wages. But when school districts ask for $50 million to build football stadiums, I draw the line.

Senior citizens should be at the top of the list. School taxes and other property taxes are literally making seniors lose their homes. In some states, they cap these taxes when you reach a certain age. The casinos and lottery have not brought these taxes down as much as public officials said they would.

I am a registered Democrat, but the candidate who addresses this school and property tax problem will get my vote. All seniors should contact their representatives and voice their disdain for these taxes. Again, the candidate who addresses the seniors’ problems will get my vote.

I hope all seniors feel the same and will vote accordingly, not just because of being a Democrat or Republican. Seniors, make your voice and vote count this time.
