Holy role models

As we celebrate Mother’s Day on May 11, if you are lucky enough to have your mother with you, put on the apron of humility and wash her feet. A mother is the most important in God’s plan for humanity — the cement that holds the foundation of society together. Modern liberalism, by “unmaning” the man and “unwomaning” the woman has had serious effects on family life. The foundation of society is crumbling. We need new direction, a light to lead us out of the darkness caused by intellectually and morally bankrupt liberal ideology that has infiltrated academia, media and government, leading to internal decay.

The Catholic Church during May honors Mary, the woman whom God chose to be the mother of his only begotten son. She was the instrument through which the eternal, awesome, incomprehensible power of the Holy Spirit entered the dimension of time so that He might share in our humanity and show us how to live.

In these troubled, chaotic times, with all the symptoms of spiritual disorder painfully evident — emotional turmoil, sexual promiscuity, the desecration of marriage, drug and alcohol abuse, mental instability, mass murder, suicide — while everyone is looking for a hero, we are very obviously looking in all the wrong places.

God offers us two role models: Christ for the men and Mary for the women, and both for all. And as in all life situations, being endowed by our creator with intellect, power to reason and free will, the choice is left to each individual — life or death.

To all mothers, a very blessed, happy day surrounded by loved ones!
