In response to the April 26 editorial “Warning Blast: RiverQuest’s Mission Has Hit Rough Water”:

Pittsburgh is nationally and internationally recognized for the redevelopment of its riverfront. What about the development of our children’s mind, spirit and interest in science?

As a former school psychologist and educator, I can honestly say every time I am observing a science program on board Explorer, students are engrossed, excited and taken over by this river-based educational hands-on science experience. I can’t say enough about our staff and board who have dedicated themselves to RiverQuest.

How can we continue to celebrate the redevelopment of our riverfront without our children on the rivers? What are our priorities? I look forward to receiving calls from those who are investing in our riverfront.

Co-Executive Director
