Tormentor’s image

Enough, already! Never have I seen photographic images of a convicted child molester so widely disseminated or so constantly published as the ones the Post-Gazette, and most every TV media outlet, use of former Penn State coach Jerry Sandusky — constantly. It seems so counterintuitive and not in keeping with journalistic integrity (which I thought was to avoid photos of perpetrators after the original story was published) to constantly use his image with every story.

I wonder what his victims and families experience not only when they read the various stories about the continuing trauma over the situation, but also when they have to see, again, their tormentor. Deep emotions are still stirred, and each story is a reminder of the excruciating wounds caused to so many (victims, families, the school, all of us).

Knowing how difficult it is for the sexually abused to face their victims, I can only image what victims feel when weekly confronted with his image. Enough!
