As a Steelers fan and an Obama fan, I can appreciate President Barack Obama’s football fumble analogy. Just like in football, you can excuse the fumble on a difficult play where the ball handler is making the extra effort — which makes the website fumble more understandable and forgivable.
But the second “you can keep your insurance” fumble was, at best, just carelessness. It’s the type of play that results in the player being pulled from the game unless you have no one to replace him. It also takes a long time for the player to regain the trust and confidence of the fans. Since we carry only one president on our roster, Mr. Obama gets to stay in the game.
The other thing to remember is that this Obamacare game will not be decided until November 2016, so there is a lot of time left on the clock. Just like some Steelers fans, there are Democrats who are ready to desert the president early in this game and leave the stadium. I expect that most will stay around to the end of the game, and hopefully they will be rewarded with an Obamacare game win.
