According to the Steelers Official Fan Guide for 2013, "Heinz Field is a smoke-free facility. ... There are NO designated smoking areas inside the stadium. ..." -- except that there is minimal announcement of this fact and absolutely no enforcement. As season ticket holders (and "owners" of a piece of the stadium with a brick to prove it), we attend almost every game and have found that there are many people smoking in the concession areas and the concourses. It is impossible to escape the secondhand smoke even when going to the restrooms.
We have complained to stadium staff who basically say there is nothing they can do. We have written to the stadium authority and have never received a response. We have contacted Smoke-free Allegheny, which is completely aware of the problem and has received many complaints from other Steelers fans.
It seems that PNC Park is perfectly capable of creating a smoke-free environment; why can't the Steelers?
