In response to the PG's editorial "Mischief Makers: GOP Reps Are the Roadblock on Transportation" (Oct. 29), Gov. Tom Corbett should be commended for his leadership efforts on transportation funding, which have been on display over the past several months. He and his secretary of transportation have been actively working with willing House Republicans and Democrats on a bipartisan basis to resuscitate the issue of transportation funding, which was on life support after the House failed to pass a bill by the end of June.

The governor is correct and he demonstrates leadership when he says this is not a partisan issue and that failure to pass a bill will not hurt him but instead hurt the citizens and businesses of Pennsylvania. He has also been able to find a leader among the House Republicans in Speaker Sam Smith, who is willing to discuss ways in which to get a comprehensive bill with sufficient funding levels passed. Keep leading on this tough but very critical issue, governor!
