They're accountable

One morning on my way to work I was thrilled to see a billboard sign being pulled on a trailer that read, "Make It Our UPMC." Finally, a grassroots movement is underfoot to call for accountability from this predatory organization.

A recent series of meetings at UPMC facilities informed staff that UPMC will not negotiate with Highmark because it will warrant the layoff of at least 11,000 UPMC employees. That sure sounds like bullying your employees to me. And employees then were asked to write to their representative in support of UPMC tyranny.

As a community and as a region we must hold UPMC accountable. Or will we continue to allow its bullying tactics and careful largesse to blind us to the fact that this so-called health system is unhealthy for Pittsburgh and beyond?
