Breaking laws

Just before 10 o'clock Tuesday morning, I was using a pedestrian crossing on Forbes and Murray in Squirrel Hill, where hundreds of children and senior citizens cross every day. The crossing is clearly marked with beepers, lights and large signs. Halfway into the crossing, I was startled by an (adult) bicyclist swooping across my path (he had obviously run a red light on Murray). In my surprise I could think of no words except a lame "hey" as he flew on down Forbes.

This idiot had not only broken at least two traffic laws and endangered pedestrians, he had also managed to turn my generally friendly attitude to bicycles into its opposite. This is how bad apples spoil the whole barrel.
