Pa. will lose people

Pennsylvania has a lot to lose if gay residents move to neighboring states. We have been together for 36 years and have both lived in Pennsylvania longer. We have owned a home in Pennsylvania for 26 years and pay significant state and local taxes. We were married in California in 2008 and have a valid marriage certificate.

If Pennsylvania doesn't accept same-sex marriage, we will not be eligible for many federal benefits including Social Security spousal benefits; and when one of us dies, we would have a 15 percent death/inheritance tax imposed by Pennsylvania on all of our joint assets.

If Pennsylvania doesn't change the law that discriminates against us, we will move to a state that has equal rights for all residents. And we won't be the only ones.
