TV dumping

The other day two more TV sets were dumped down my hillside. Since the Covered Device Recycling Act went into effect, old TVs have been raining down.

Though requiring TVs to be recycled is well-intentioned, isn't it obvious that unless it continues to be as easy to dispose of them as it was before, they are going to be illegally dumped in large numbers? And now a primary dropoff location is refusing to take anymore ("Goodwill Has Its Fill of TV Donations," July 10).

The only way I can see to keep our hillsides from being littered with toxic broken TV sets is to allow their continued collection by regular waste haulers and put a cash value on them.
