Violence research

The April 12 Perspectives page included a column by Kathleen Parker ("Feel-Good Gun Laws"), which essentially tells us that nothing can be done to control guns and new laws just make us feel better. However, along with many citizens, I believe that controls should be enacted.

An April 11 letter by Deane Lavender ("Insufficient Study") tells us that research on firearms violence has been shut down, even though such research might make it possible to have laws that can reduce firearms violence.

I believe we should ask our senators, Robert Casey and Pat Toomey, as well as our representatives, including Mike Kelly, my representative, to see that the law allows progress on research so that firearms violence can be reduced.
