Lack of service

With regard to the April 1 article "Perception at Issue in City Council Race in South Hills": I was born and raised in Brookline. I have worked at Pittsburgh City Council and in the Pittsburgh mayor's office. I think I have a pretty good understanding of how the fifth floor of the City-County Building works.

The projects that are taking place in Brookline right now are great. They are the types of projects that large city neighborhoods see during election seasons. They will make what is the hidden gem of Pittsburgh neighborhoods even better.

I am sure that Councilwoman Natalia Rudiak can claim some responsibility for the roadwork on Brookline Boulevard. I would also like to see her claim responsibility for the absolute lack of constituent services that she has provided. I have firsthand experience in that.

My parents still live in Brookline and my mom has been calling her office for at least two years seeking help with an abandoned property next door. In a beautifully maintained neighborhood of hard-working people, this is more than an eyesore. It is a disgrace. More than two years have passed with absolutely no assistance from Ms. Rudiak's office whatsoever.

In the council-by-district system, nothing is more important than constituent services, and unfortunately for my parents, Ms. Rudiak has not done her job.
