Regarding E.J. Dionne's op-ed column "Haunted By The Tea Party: We're Having The Same Useless Debate All Over Again" (Feb. 27), since the Republicans refuse to acknowledge anything except that we have a spending problem, and since the Democrats acknowledge that we need more revenue, I suggest a long-term solution.
I challenge Republicans to propose the specific spending cuts that are needed, and I challenge the Democrats to propose specific legislation to increase revenue. Put it all on the table and have an open and transparent discussion before the American people. I do not think there is any other way we can have a bipartisan solution to our current fiscal problems.
