Christmas is only a week and a half away and for a lot of people this is the moment when the holiday season becomes intense. That’s all the more reason to pause amid the hustle and bustle to consider needy children for whom Christmas promises no joy. The Goodfellows can help you do something for them.
Since 1947, the Goodfellows Fund has worked hard to try and give underprivileged children the chance to receive a new toy on Christmas Day. The fund raises money for the Marine Corps Reserve’s Toys for Tots and the Salvation Army’s Treasures for Children programs.
Even in the best of times, some families have little or nothing to spare for a Christmas gift for their children. With hard economic times persisting, deprivation makes a Merry Christmas wish an empty hope for thousands of children in our area. The sad stories of these kids and their families appear regularly in the Post-Gazette in the run-up to Christmas.
To be a Santa for these kids, you don’t have to put on a red suit and a white beard. You just have to fill out the coupon in today’s paper and send your donation or contribute online at www.post-gazette.com/goodfellows. Please help make every family experience the joy of the season.
