Interstate 80 in Clarion County has reopened following a head-on collision that left six people, including two young children, injured.
The eastbound lanes of the highway had been shut down following the crash that happened at 7:30 a.m. today.
Four who were injured were flown to Pittsburgh hospitals. Two are in very critical condition, according to the state police officer who is leading the investigation into the accident.
"It was very bad," said Trooper Jessica Mesing of the crash that happened in Clarion Township near mile marker 69.
The trooper said a pickup truck was westbound when the driver fell asleep at the wheel and the vehicle cross the median and hit a passenger car head-on.
Among the injured are two children, ages 3 and 9. The 3-year-old was flown to Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC. The 9-year-old was taken by ambulance to Brookville Hospital.
Interstate traffic was detoured until about 11:30 a.m.
