Police are on the lookout for a man suspected of stabbing a student on the Penn State Arboretum pathway today.

Ferguson Township police said the victim was walking on the pathway to the north and about 200 yards from the end of Clinton Avenue when an unknown male grabbed her from behind shortly before 2:30 p.m.

The woman, a graduate student, fought off her attacker by biting him on the hand and he ran away. Cut and bleeding from her neck, the victim went toward Clinton Avenue where a jogger helped her and called 911. She was treated and released from Mount Nittany Center.

Police used tracking dogs, air units and car and foot patrols in an effort to find the suspect, who was still at large late tonight.

Anyone with information is asked to call 911 immediately. To report anonymous tips, contact Centre County Crimestoppers at 1-877-99-CRIME or tip@centrecountycrimestoppers.org. Crimestoppers pays rewards of up to $1,000 if information leads to an arrest.
