A third North Allegheny high school student has been diagnosed with pertussis, or whooping cough.

Parents were notified Thursday by the district’s automated message service that the senior high student was affected. Previously, one student at the senior high and one at the intermediate high school had been diagnosed with pertussis. At least one of the students had been helping with a marching band activity for incoming ninth-graders.

The district posted information about pertussis, including a letter from the county health department, on its website.
