Two students named to State System of Higher Education board of governors

Two students have been named to the board of governors of the State System of Higher Education.

Chelsea E. Getsy, of Plum, president of the Student Government Association at California University of Pennsylvania and a junior, and Todd Garrett, of Mercer, president of the Clarion University of Pennsylvania Student Senate and a junior, were confirmed by the state Senate, the system announced today. They were appointed by the governor.

The 20-member board, which includes three students, oversees the overall system, which is made up of 14 universities, including California, Clarion, Edinboro, Indiana and Slippery Rock.

Student members, who have the same voting rights as other members, serve until graduation.
