The Mars Area School Board on Tuesday revised the graduation requirements for current freshmen to align with the state.

The new requirement is that the Class of 2017 pass the Keystone Exam in biology.

Pennsylvania requires that students pass Keystone Exams with scores of advanced or proficient in algebra 1, literature and biology, beginning with the Class of 2017. Previous graduation requirements only listed passing the algebra and literature exams.

Students who do not pass the exams, despite remediation, can do a project to meet the requirement.
