A man and woman were found shot to death yesterday afternoon inside their McKees Rocks home, victims of an apparent homicide. The couple's 2-year-old toddler was found unharmed, close to her parents' bodies.
The bodies of Cardell Gary, 24, and Christina Law, 33, were discovered after a concerned relative went to the home in the 800 block of Railroad Street around 4 p.m.
The bodies were in a first-floor room near the foyer, Allegheny County police said.
The girl was staying with relatives last night.
"There does not appear to be signs of forced entry," said Lt. Christopher Kearns, head of the county homicide division. Lt. Kearns said the deaths did not appear to be a murder-suicide.
Police did not know when the couple was last seen.
The child's godfather, Jeremy Stover, 18, of Coraopolis, said Ms. Law was Mr. Gary's girlfriend. Neither he nor police identified the toddler. Mr. Stover said he had lived with the couple for a month before he moved to Coraopolis.
He said Mr. Gary had recently quit his job with a phone company. His girlfriend apparently was also working at a telephone company, but Mr. Stover was not sure if it was the same company.
He said nothing seemed out of the ordinary with the couple during the past month.
Neighbors said the couple sometimes argued, and that another man lived at the home, though police said they could not verify that.
"It's shocking that this happened so close," said Theran Corso, 21, who lives two doors down from the couple. "I never knew something could happen like this -- at least here."
Lt. Kearns said no drugs or weapons were confiscated from the home.
Charles Knox, 58, who lives across the street, said the couple moved in seven or eight months ago.
"Sometimes they would be out here arguing," said Mr. Knox, adding that the neighborhood was relatively quiet.
"This is as quiet as the next street. You hear gunshots like any other neighborhood."
Autopsies have been scheduled for today.
