A part-time Whitaker police officer is facing charges again after the Allegheny County district attorney's office said he lied under oath and falsified an affidavit in 2012.

William Davis, 35, has been charged with felony perjury and two misdemeanor counts each of false swearing, unsworn falsification to authorities and official oppression.

Mr. Davis was charged last fall with official oppression, making a false statement, criminal mischief and criminal attempt related to the threat, after after an investigator with the district attorney's office said he broke a woman's window during a traffic stop and then threatened to file charges if she didn't pay to fix the gun he used to do it.

He faces a hearing May 17 before Judge Philip A. Ignelzi.

He has been suspended without pay.

Whitaker police Chief John D. Vargo, an outspoken advocate for Mr. Davis when the first accusations were levied, said he still backs him.

"I hope he sues everybody involved in this if he's found to be not guilty, because it's ridiculous," he said.
