Police officers from multiple departments surrounded a home in Ross this afternoon after they received a report that a suicidal man might be barricaded inside.

He later killed himself, according to the Allegheny County medical examiner's office, which is currently contacting his family before releasing his identity.

Ross police and members of the North Hills Special Response Team deployed around the home near the intersection of Mount Troy Road and Mount Troy Road Extension while they attempted to vet the report.

As a precaution, police redirected school buses that attempted to cross through the area. Some school children were dropped at the entrance to St. Mary's cemetery in a police officer's care.
