Young professionals group forming
The Chamber of Commerce Inc. is beginning a new group for young professionals. The focus is on professionals under the age of 40.
The group will have social events such as after-hours gatherings each month, but also will have a mentorship program through which participants will meet with business owners in roundtable luncheons.
Mentorship of younger generations in high school through college also will be a part of this group.
The chamber comprises business owners and representatives from northern Allegheny County and parts of Beaver and Butler counties.

Student artwork on display
Artwork from Quaker Valley students who are members of Studio Life, a visual arts-based afterschool program offered to middle-schoolers, will be on exhibit from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at 429 Broad St.
The program, under the direction of art teacher Jeff Evancho, uses visual art to develop critical thinking skills, expression, creativity, and leadership development.
The exhibit will feature artwork by high school students who are mentors in the program and other select students.
The exhibit, which will be managed by artist Alessandra Crivelli, a 2012 Quaker Valley High School graduate, also will feature music from violinist Matt Pickart. It is being held in partnership with the Sewickley Arts Initiative, which is host to the exhibit, Pretty:Functional, the same evening at 419 Beaver St.
Studio Life shirts and sweatshirts will be available for purchase at both exhibits. All proceeds benefit the afterschool program.
