A Braddock man was being held in the Allegheny County Jail Monday on charges that he kidnapped two men and stole a car outside a Larimer bar over the weekend.

Pittsburgh police wrote in a criminal complaint that one of the victims in the case said he and a friend left Serenity night club on Hamilton Avenue Sunday morning and he turned on his Dodge Durango to run the air conditioner while he went to a nearby building to relieve himself.

When he returned, Donovan Chapman, 22, told the pair, "I'm taking control of this," told the men to get into the car and, when they hesitated, pulled out a gun, according to the complaint.

Police said one of the victims crawled into the backseat and called 911, feeding them directions while Mr. Chapman drove into Penn Hills, where police stopped them.

Mr. Chapman faces charges of kidnapping, robbery, drug possession (for some crack cocaine found inside the car), and gun violations. He was being held in the Allegheny County Jail Monday on $50,000 bail.
