Pittsburgh police have recovered a white rental car in their attempts to discover who shot two people in Knoxville this afternoon.

Officers from the city's Zone 3 station were called to 97 Amanda St. about 1:20 p.m. today for a report of shots fired.

They found one man with a gunshot wound to the left leg and medics took him to UPMC Mercy, police spokeswoman Diane Richard wrote in an email.

A second shooting victim made his way to UPMC Mercy in a private vehicle.

Both men are expected to survive.

Members of the police bureau's Mobile Crimes Unit are searching a white Dodge Caliber that had been rented and is thought to have been driven by the suspect or suspects.

Zone 3 police are leading the investigation.
