A Beaver County man filed a federal lawsuit Tuesday against the City of Pittsburgh, four city police officers and a South Side bar's owners and security manager, saying he was beaten at the bar in May 2012.
William Everetts said in the lawsuit his civil liberties were violated when he was arrested outside of Local Bar + Kitchen on East Carson Street. In November, he pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct.
During that incident, officers Stanley Comans, Andrew Miller and Mark Rush, Sgt. Stephen Matakovich and bar security manager John Doleno exerted excessive and unreasonable police conduct depriving him of his 1st, 4th and 14th amendment rights, Mr. Everetts said in the suit.
The city does not believe or have information to indicate that the situation resulted as a failure of policy, training or practice, city solicitor Dan Regan said.
Correction, posted May 15, 2013: In an earlier version of this story, the first name and police rank of defendant Mark Rush was incorrect.
