Pittsburgh police are searching for a Bellevue man charged with criminal homicide in the Friday shooting death of 38-year-old Terry James.
Lawrence Brent "Red" Simmons, 41, faces charges of criminal conspiracy, carrying a firearm without a license, aggravated assault, burglary and robbery.
Pittsburgh police responded to 2129 Rhine St. in Spring Hill shortly after 8 p.m. Friday and found Mr. James' 26-year-old fiancee shot in the arm on the couch. Mr. James was dead in the dining room with gunshot wounds to the chest, upper arm and forehead.
The fiancee was taken to Allegheny General Hospital, where she told police that the couple was preparing to go out and celebrate his birthday and their engagement when Mr. Simmons came to the door with two other men and demanded money.
She said she was pistol whipped and shot by an unidentified man and heard gunshots coming from the dining room where Mr. Simmons and Mr. James were standing.
