Pennsylvania State Police said two Keystone Oaks School District students climbed off a school bus on the Parkway East this morning and walked across the Fort Pitt bridge amid bustling traffic before a PennDOT employee picked them up.

The two boys, a 12-year-old boy and a 14-year-old boy police did not identify, were both cited for disorderly conduct. The 12-year-old boy was also cited for criminal mischief.

State police said the driver was eastbound on the Parkway East when the two boys began acting unruly.

The 12-year-old boy was using a sharp stick to poke holes in the seats, state police said. The driver pulled the bus over at an emergency exit near the Grant Street on ramp when the boys jumped out a rear emergency exit about 8:15 a.m.

They were headed west on the Fort Pitt Bridge when a PennDOT employee spotted them and drove them to safety.

The boys were released to their guardians.
