The Pittsburgh Promise college scholarship program has a new Web site designed to inform students, attract donors and keep the community apprised of fundraising efforts.

The site at www.pittsburghpromise.org includes videotaped statements from 2008 Promise recipients and invites students to submit their own stories with the theme, "What's Your Promise?"

The site is designed to walk students through the scholarship eligibility and application process. It includes links to the Web sites of postsecondary institutions where Promise scholarships may be used.

Also provided is a running tally of donations. The site accepts donations by credit card.

Graduates of Pittsburgh Public Schools and city charter schools are eligible for the scholarships, provided they meet certain academic and enrollment guidelines. For 2009, 2010 and 2011 graduates, the maximum scholarship is $20,000. In 2012, the maximum jumps to $40,000.
