Teresa Heinz Kerry has been upgraded to fair condition after being admitted to a Boston hospital Sunday.
Teresa Heinz Kerry, hospitalized over the weekend in Massachusetts, has been upgraded from critical condition to fair.
Glen Johnson, spokesman for her husband, Secretary of State John Kerry, said Monday that Mrs. Heinz Kerry is undergoing further evaluation at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, where she was flown Sunday after becoming ill at the family home in Nantucket.
The nature of her illness has not been disclosed.
Several media outlets have reported that a person in close contact with the family said Mrs. Heinz Kerry showed symptoms consistent with a seizure, but Mr. Johnson would not address her illness.
Mrs. Heinz Kerry was taken by ambulance to Nantucket Cottage Hospital on Sunday, accompanied by Mr. Kerry. She arrived in critical condition at a little after 3:30 p.m. After being stabilized, she was flown to Boston.
Mrs. Heinz Kerry, 74, married Mr. Kerry in 1995 on Nantucket. Her first husband, Sen. John Heinz of Pennsylvania, died in a plane crash in 1991.
