'The Epicureans' puts focus on D.C. singles
"The Epicureans," a movie about swinging singles in Washington, D.C., will be shown at 7 p.m. tomorrow at the Kelly-Strayhorn Community Performing Arts Center in East Liberty. Tickets are $5.
The movie was written and directed by Brandon Broussard, who says he was inspired by the movie "Swingers." It's about four men (played by Michael Moss, Jon Ali, Hudson Smith and Chrison Thompson) on the lookout for a few good women. When one of them gets his feelings hurt and withdraws, the others try to get him back in the game.
Broussard and Ali will be present at the screening and will conduct a question-and-answer session afterward.
Sundance Connection
Two short works with Pittsburgh connections are among the entries at this year's Sundance Film Festival, now being held in Park City, Utah.
Michaline Babich, a Pittsburgh native, is the director of the documentary "Kiss and Tell," which examines sexuality and the American woman. Babich is also writing an online journal of her experiences, which can be viewed at www.sundancechannel.com.
Another short, "Icarus of Pittsburgh," was written and directed by Kirk Hostetter and Evan Mather. The festival describes it as "a touching and humorous ode to a die-hard Steeler fan and his bizarre tale of mythological proportions."
Selected for the Sundance Online Film Festival, "Icarus of Pittsburgh," which is 10 minutes in length, can be viewed on the Internet at this address: www.sundanceonlinefilmfestival.com/shorts01_02.html.
