ARMSTRONG COUNTY: West Nile virus infects man

A 54-year-old man from Armstrong County was one of five new human cases of West Nile virus infection reported yesterday by the state Department of Health, bringing the state's total for the year to 49. The state has reported no deaths this year from the mosquito-borne virus.

Presence of the virus has been confirmed in every county except Jefferson. Nationwide, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have reported 2,568 human cases, including 47 deaths, this year.
