A 21-year-old man died at a Monroeville hospital after a crash involving multiple vehicles Sunday in Murrysville, authorities said today.

Brett Caughlan, of Greensburg, was taken to Forbes Regional Hospital, where he died Sunday night, according to the Allegheny County medical examiner’s office.

Murrysville police are investigating the crash and believe Mr. Caughlan may have been driving too fast, Chief Thomas Seefeld said.

Mr. Caughlan was driving in the eastbound lane of Route 22 when his car struck a PennDOT salt truck, then went into the westbound lane and hit two other vehicles shortly after 6:45 p.m., the chief said.

The salt truck driver was not injured, police said, and minor injuries were reported for those in the two other vehicles.
