CHURCH ACTIVITIES

Salem -- St. Sylvester Church, Route 819, will hold a fall tea at 12:30 p.m. Sept. 30. Cost: $10, $7 for ages 6-12. Tickets available in advance only. Deadline: next Thursday. Space limited. Information: 724-468-4094.

CLASSES

Monroeville -- The recreation and parks department will hold swimming classes for children and adults, including those with special needs, on Saturdays beginning Sept. 29 at Gateway High School, 3000 Gateway Campus Blvd. Times vary according to age. Cost: $35-40. Registration: 412-856-1006.

CONCERTS

Greensburg -- To commemorate the golden jubilee of the American Harp Society, the Division of Visual and Performing Arts at Seton Hill University will sponsor "50 for 50," a concert featuring 50 harpists, at 7:30 p.m. Saturday in the Carol Ann Reichgut Concert Hall in the university's Performing Arts Center, 100 Harrison Ave. Information: 724-552-2900.

FUNDRAISING

Penn Township -- The Bushy Run Battlefield Heritage Society will sponsor its annual "Bushy Run Rides: The Trails of History" motorcycle ride at 10 a.m. Sunday beginning at the museum and visitors center, 1253 Bushy Run Road, off Route 993. Cost: $15 for drivers, $10 for passengers. Proceeds benefit the society's Save Bushy Run endowment. Information: 724-527-5584.

LECTURES/SEMINARS

Hempfield -- The University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg will sponsor a lecture at 7 p.m. next Thursday in the Campana Chapel on the Greensburg campus, 150 Finoli Drive. The lecture will kick off the Greensburg campus writing program's fall written/spoken series. Heather McNaugher, author of "System of Hideouts," will be featured, and a book signing will follow. Student writer Khalil Zeigler will begin the program with readings from his works. Information: 724-836-7481.

Penn Township -- The Penn Township police, in conjunction with the Westmoreland County district attorney's office and the Penn Trafford School District, will present a drug awareness program at 6:30 p.m. next Thursday in the auditorium of Penn-Trafford High School, 3381 Route 130. MEETINGS

REGISTRATIONS

Hempfield -- The admissions office of the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg will offer group presentations that begin at 5 p.m. today and include an information session with an admissions counselor and a student-led campus tour. Individual appointments are offered to transfer students every half hour. Registration required. Information: 724-836-9880.
