State police are searching for a man they said opened fire into the windshield of another's vehicle Sunday afternoon along Route 18 in Big Beaver.

Kevin Haskins, 22, of Beaver Falls, was driving northbound in the 6800 block of that road, also known as Big Beaver Boulevard, when another vehicle passed him on the left shortly after noon.

State police said its passenger started shooting into the windshield of Mr. Haskins' vehicle, causing him to lose control and hit a concrete divider.

Mr. Haskins ran away, leaving his vehicle behind and stashing a gun in the weeds along Route 18, state police said. Troopers found a loaded 9mm handgun at the crash scene.

Mr. Haskins, who was not injured, was jailed on charges of driving under suspension and gun and traffic violations.
