An airline pilot from Oakdale accused of taking a 15-year-old Ohio girl to a West Virginia hotel for sex was released this morning on bond after a federal detention hearing.

A U.S. magistrate ordered that Mustafa Bazbaz, 28, will be free on electronic monitoring pending trial in U.S. District Court in Wheeling.

Mr. Bazbaz, a Republic Airlines pilot who moved from California to Oakdale in August, met the Irondale, Ohio girl in a chatroom in early December. Federal agents said he claimed to be 17, later changing it to 23, and called himself Mike B.

He picked up the girl on Dec. 6 and drove her to a hotel in Newell, W.Va., where they had sex.

Pittsburgh FBI agents raided his Hawthorne Square apartment on Feb. 7 after he had indicated in text messages that he wanted to have sex with her again, according to the U.S. attorney's office.

Mr. Bazbaz is charged with interstate travel to have sex with a minor.
