A West Virginia woman was convicted today of a series of bank robberies in three states, including one in Washington County.
Christine Joy Martin, 31, of Davisville, pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Clarksburg, W.Va., to charges of unarmed bank robbery filed earlier this month by the U.S. attorney in Wheeling.
She admitted that she held up the WesBanco Bank branch in South Strabane on Dec. 23, 2016, as well as a Huntington Bank in Marion County, W.Va., and People's Bank in Athens County, Ohio.
The FBI worked with South Strabane police in solving the Washington County case and with respective police departments in the other states.
Martin got away with $350 at WesBanco and a few thousand dollars at the other two banks.
