McDonald council voted 7-0 tonight to approve a five-year, $100,000 loan primarily for road improvements.

Up to 28 streets this year will be fog-sealed and resurfaced with micropaving.

Yearly debt payments will be made with money the borough has collected in Marcellus Shale drilling impact fees under the state’s Act 13.

“The monies are available to use, and we’re putting them to good use, I think,” council President Marilou Ritchie said.

Officials might buy a used truck with a plow for $13,000 and use the remaining $87,000 for the road work.
