A Washington County man was sentenced today to 25 to 50 years in prison for his role in a 2009 double homicide.

Phillip Whitlock, 31, pleaded guilty in 2012 to two of counts third-degree murder, aggravated assault and criminal conspiracy in the Feb. 16, 2009, shooting deaths of Troy "Deuce" Saunders, 23, and Marquis Taylor, 24, near the Cabaret West Bar on West Chestnut Street in Washington.

Whitlock testified against his co-defendant, Gregory Avery Jr., 25, of Washington, at his trial last month. Mr. Avery was acquitted on homicide charges related to the killings.
