A woman accused of shooting her husband in the chest Tuesday night was arrested this morning in Washington County.

South Strabane police believe that Latasha Stapp, 26 shot her husband, Tyler Stapp, in their South Strabane apartment, then again outside. Mr. Stapp was flown to a Pittsburgh hospital. His condition was not available this morning.

Two children, 5 and 7, were home and might have seen the shooting, police said.

Emergency dispatchers got a 911 call reporting a shooting about 8:45 p.m., according to a police criminal complaint. The caller also said a man inside a building in the 3100 block of Clubhouse Circle was telling people he had been shot by his wife and that she was outside the apartment.

Police saw a woman matching Ms. Stapp's description talking on her cell phone and standing in the road, crying.

Questioned later, Ms. Stapp said she shot her husband inside their apartment in the 3000-block then shot him again outside the apartment, police wrote in the complaint.

Police said she told them she threw the gun in the bushes outside their apartment.

Ms. Stapp is charged with attempted homicide, aggravated assault, and reckless endangerment and firearms violations, according to court documents.
