A Duquesne man has been charged with fatally stabbing his mother inside her home Monday afternoon.
Rodney Davis, 56, is awaiting arraignment this morning on one count of homicide in the death of his mother, 79-year-old Marguerite Davis.
Allegheny County police wrote in a criminal complaint that Mr. Davis told them he and his mother fought verbally inside the house at 319 S. Second St. in Duquesne that she bought with her husband on Christmas Eve in 1975.
He told police she hit him in the hand so he hit her in the head with a bottle of vodka, detectives wrote. Police said Mr. Davis told them he grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed her, then returned to the kitchen two more times and stabbed her each time.
Mr. Davis told police he left the house through the front door and police found him at a house down the road.
Police said Mr. Davis' brother, Anthony Davis, 48, found his mother lying stabbed inside the house when he returned from the store about 3 p.m. and shouted for his friend to call 911. Ms. Davis was pronounced dead inside the home about 10 minutes later.
