The show will go on at Dormont’s Hollywood Theater, but not the one originally scheduled.
The theater plans to show the classic summer film “Jaws” on June 13 and 14, instead of sex-advice columnist Don Savage’s HUMP! Tour, billed on its website as “the sexiest, funnest, most creative dirty movie fest in the world.”
“I received a call from the borough saying that they had received some calls of complaint about the screening, and I was told that given the content of the program it would be illegal to show it in Dormont under Code 210-62A,” Chad Hunter, the theater's executive director, wrote in an email Monday. “Because we must comply with borough laws, we had to cancel the screenings.”
Jeff Naftal, borough manager, said the theater personnel were unaware of the violation.
“When notified about it, they agreed to change it,” he explained.
The HUMP! Tour website acknowledges the cancellation:
“There have been complaints by neighborhood residents about Hump’s content and have forced the theater to cancel the screening. We are searching for a new venue and will post that information as soon as we are able.”
