Children's play precedes Mountain Playhouse's 2014 season in Jennerston



Mountain Playhouse will offer a preseason children’s play, “Junie B. Jones,” a TheatreworksUSA Tour program, May 12-16. The book and lyrics are by Marcy Heisler, and music is by Zina Goldrich.

 Party on the Lawn, a fundraiser, will be held 3 to 6 p.m. May 18, offering music by the Sly String Quartet, croquet, bocce, hors d’oeuvres and drinks. Admission is $25.

Here is the 2014 season:

June 17-29 — “The Marvelous Wonderettes,” a musical comedy by Roger Bean

July 8-20 — “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat,” a musical by Andrew Lloyd Weber and lyricist Tim Rice

July 22-Aug. 3 — “Funny Money,” a comedy/farce by Ray Cooney

Aug. 5-17 — “Mitch Albom’s Tuesdays with Morrie,” a drama by Jeffrey Hatcher and Mitch Albom

Sept. 16-28 — “Driving Miss Daisy,” a comedy by Alfred Uhry

Sept. 30-Oct. 12 — “Midlife! The Crisis Musical,” a musical comedy by Bob Walton and Jim Walton, directed by Chan Harris, who has directed more than 20 plays for the playhouse

Evening performances are at 7 p.m. on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and at 8 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays. Tickets are $20 to $35. Matinees are at 2 p.m. on Wednesdays and Fridays and at 3 p.m. Sundays. Matinee tickets are $15 to $30.
